"Thank you for taking the time to write to us.
Your cats stool should not be too dry, it should be moist enough that the kitty litter sticks to it.
Solanine and Chaconine are compounds generally found in green potato skin and in the leaves of the potato plant. These compounds can be toxic to humans, dogs, cats, and many other animals if present in large enough concentrations.
That’s why we routinely test both our potato ingredients for their total content of Glycoalkaloids (the family of compounds to which these 2 belong), and also the final product. ORIJEN products and ACANA products are so low in Solanine and Chaconine, that the levels in our foods are under the laboratory detection limits of 25 ug/g or 2.50mg/100g.
As each of our potato suppliers produce potatoes for human consumption, they have strong quality systems in place to exclude green potatoes and tubers which makes our potato ingredient of very high quality. We have visited each of our potato suppliers in person to assure ourselves of their food processing capability.
I hope that I have been helpful and please let me know if I can be of further assistance.
Kind regards,
Diana
